“Where Every Story Matters”
At San Diego State University, every journey is unique and deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. Whether you're a student finding your place, a staff or faculty member looking to deepen your advocacy, or an ally seeking connection, you belong here.
The Monarch Unity Resource Center was created with one purpose: to build a home rooted in equity, empowerment, and community. We understand that navigating higher education while carrying the complexities of immigration status, identity, and systemic barriers requires more than resilience; it requires support, care, and collective strength.
STARTING AUGUST 2025
The Monarch newsletter is your monthly window into that care. Inside, you’ll find:
- Upcoming workshops, events, and healing circles!
- Opportunities for advising and legal support
- Stories of resilience from our undocumented and mixed-status community
- Tips for wellness, scholarship highlights, and ways to get involved
Here, you are never alone. The Monarch Unity Resource Center is committed to walking alongside you, whether you need a listening ear, a quiet space, or a vibrant circle of peers and advocates.
Welcome to a space where your story is not just accepted, but celebrated.
Welcome home.
With community,
The Monarch Unity Resource Center Team

Student Testimonies
“The Center became my home; it’s where I studied, cried, laughed, and felt safe. It’s where I met my chosen family, where Cynthia reminded me I mattered, and where I learned to take pride in who I am.”
“As an alumni, I envy current students as I did not have a center to belong to or build community. I didn’t have access to the MURC during my time at SDSU, but witnessing its grand opening reminded me of all the students who would finally have what I didn’t: a support system, a home, and staff leading the way!”
“It is more than a place, it’s the reason I found my voice, my community, and my strength as a student; it gave me the confidence, respect, and unconditional support.”
“The MURC has always opened its doors to me and my wife with kindness and care. I was never turned away, and every time I needed help. I received guidance, respect, and unconditional support.”
See you in August!
